For those big things, like a Medieval Festival, cooperative communities are beneficial in a myriad of ways! Every single family brings with them a unique set of talents: some are obvious and some are hidden. It’s the hidden ones that are sometimes the best! For example; I was in charge of our medieval festival so I asked all of our parents to pick something from this time period to share. We ended up with a mother who knows a lot about herbs, a swordsman, a sculptor, a catapult builder – just to mention a few. What seemed like a difficult project to organize came together with just a bit of email correspondence and a place to gather.
A home school cooperative can be two families or fifteen families. It just has to work for your family. You may find cooperative members in your church organization, your neighborhood, your book club, or at your library. Keep your eyes and ears open, say a prayer, and you’ll run into the right people.
